SERENADE A LOVED ONE
"Moonlit Serenata"

Shown in progress.

The Baroque horse is a term used to generalize the common Spanish breeds of today. These breeds are commonly the Andalusian, Lipizzan, Friesian, Kladruber, Frederiksborger, and the Lusitano.

The Baroque horses were used in the Middle Ages, carrying warriors to battle or providing an elegant ride for a lady. These horses have ancestorial ties to the Iberan and Barb horses.

These horses are quite athletic, and are very well-suited for the haute ecole, a discipline of classical dressage. But their abilities aren't limited to dressage, they can perform under many disciplines includes jumping, fine harness, competitive driving, equitation, and trail.

To signify their strong Spanish ancestory, these beautiful horses are commonly decorated in flores; an arrangement of brightly colored flowers (sometimes synthetic, sometimes real) woven through their manes and tails.

Serenade A Loved One is a collaboration of two artists - Rikki Lyman and Lisa Bickford. Rikki put her creativity to work and customized the new Breyer mold, Esprit. Rikki gave this new beauty a resculpted mane and tail, adorned with beautiful hand sculpted flores; the goal, a romantic posture/feeling, so the entire right hind quarter was moved forward to give him a rythym of dance. Serenata was then giving a NEW liquid long flowering tail with Flores & top braid. NEW mane with a twisting flow and 15 detailed flores. Many details including heel bulbs, whisker bumps, prepping, & carefully reinforcement went into the creation of a Moonlit Serenata. "Loved One" was then passed along to Lisa Bickford for a coat of color. Lisa used a combination of airbrushing, pastelling, and hand detailing to bring this horse to live. He was made into a dappled bay, a common color amongst the Spanish breeds (to maintain breed assignment versatility). His body is shaded with tones of creams and browns, making his bay color soft and light. He was hand detailed with minimal white markings (again, to maintain common breed preferences). His hooves were pastelled with appropriate hoof stripes and shading, as well as his muzzle and nostril pinking. "Loved One" was finished off with bright yellow and red flores to accent beautifully with his soft bay coat.
