-Lindsey Hall posted that if there were no objections, she would request Lynn Weber to update the "Requesting a NAN Entry Packet" section on the website with the current year. She also suggested changing the wording about lost NAN tickets with "lost or DAMAGED tickets cannot be replaced".

-Lindsey Hall inquired if anyone had items to add to the Board agenda.

-Lindsey Hall stated that if there were no further comments regarding updating the Merit Award Page with wording about the Almost Heaven Live counterfeit cards, that a poll would be set up. Poll was begun February 5th.

-Lindsey Hall requested Pauline Entin and Pat Coulter to submit reports for their respective committees (NAN Steering and NAN Judge's Handbook).

-Pauline Entin (NAN Steering Committee Chair) posted the following from the NAN Steering Committee:

The NAN Steering Committee delivered a written recommendation to the NAMHSA Board regarding NAN 2011 on Jan 1, 2010.
The next agenda item for the Steering Committee is discussing ideas for major structural changes to NAN. The goals of any proposed changes are to improve the NAN showing experience and to improve NAN finances (ie bring expenses and revenue in line).
Danielle Miller presented part 1 of a multi-phase proposal for NAN restructing on Jan 13. In short, part 1 proposed elimination of the NAN Auction and creation of a NAMHSA Fundraising Chair and Assistant, each of whom would serve two year terms, similar to the NAMHSA President and VP (i.e., the Assistant assumes Chair responsibility in the second year).
These individuals would be responsible for NAMHSA year round fundraising, an idea supported by previous NAMHSA boards.
There has been little comment on this proposal.
Danielle has indicated that part 2 of the proposal is coming soon.

****REGIONAL REPORTS****

REGION 1- Tracy Eilers
January was fairly quiet in Region 1. Cece Osborn hosted Ring in the New Year Live on the 23rd, which was a small minis-only show that had lots of laughing and camaraderie in the small space. Even though the horses were small, the competition was HUGE with some very fine horses coming out of the woodwork in the wood-working shop where the show was held! ;)
We are looking forward to a few shows coming up this Spring, including Rose Bud Minis March 13 hosted by Amy Elkins and NW Expo April 17th hosted by Traci Durrell-Khalife!

REGION 2- Tom Dean
One new show to report for January, New Years Bash Model Horse Show held January 23 - 24 in Ridgecrest, California. Hosted by Trisha Cavallier, this was by all reports excellent, well received and enjoyed by all.
Next up, Eureka Live in Santa Barabara on Feb 14th, and Las Vegas Live in Las Vegas (of course) March 19-21.

REGION 3- Teresa Buzzell
January was a slow month with only one show/event being held, as is typical for this time of the year. On January 16, OSC: Draft and Pony Classic was held in Tucson, AZ. I was unable to attend but I did hear good things on the local lists.
Upcoming shows:
Feb:
February 27 - 28, 2010: Jewel Heist Live! in Tucson, AZ. Contact Lauren Hoeffer, information on namhsa.org
March:
March 27, 2010: Redline Revival:OF Stone Show in Boulder, CO. Contact Heather Roell, information on namhsa.org

REGION 4- Carra McClelland
There were no shows in Region 4 in January, but we do have an exciting show season coming up starting in March!
Check out what is coming!
March 12-14, 2010: Nebraska Model Horse Expo in Lancaster Event Center, Lincoln, NE.
April 3, 2010: Dream Acres Live Model Show in Parkersburg, IA. Contact Letrisha Wise.
June 12, 2010: Rough Riders Live in Fargo, ND. Contact Nancie Warga. We have a couple more shows on deck with NAMHSA approval pending! One is an all mini show in Omaha.
Can't WAIT to see the new horses everyone has gotten over the winter!

REGION 5- Lori Batchelor
January started off cold and slow but wound up with three great shows near the end of the month. In Oklahoma, the 28 Days after Christmas show was held in OKC on Friday, January 22. This was a small but well attended show focusing on OF classes only. I did not get to attend this show, but I understand that there were two new youth showers present which is always exciting to hear about. Then on January 30 the Seminole area 4H group had their 3rd annual show. Again, a lot of eager youth showers despite the bad weather. In Texas, Shannon, Kim and Brad put on the 2nd annual Midwinter's Night Ball in Fort Worth's Stockyard Station area on January 23 & 24. This was a great show, lots of entrants and a few lookers-on. Again, a couple new youth showers were present and at least one visiting family dropped in to see what model showing is all about and I believe they will be coming back to show at Lone Star in March.
As far as I know, February will be a quiet month but then in March we will be having Lone Star Live in Ft. Worth on March 13 & 14 and then in OKC there will be Tornado Alley on March 27. Both of these shows are NAN qualifiers and they should both be a lot of fun. Hope to see many of you there!

REGION 6- Jackie Moore
Hello All!
There were no shows in Region 6 in January, as we were all too busy trying to keep our water pipes from freezing!
We are all looking forward to the Spring show schedule with Panhandle Live on Feb 20, Carolina Gold Classic on March 13, Models In The Sunshine on April 24-25, and South Florida Live on May 8.
Hooray for Spring!

REGION 7- Heather Jackson-Lain
We here in the south are still caught in the grips of the winter slump for shows.
Next Region 7 show is slated for April 10th 2010 Model Horses Anonymous Live III.
Until then Hope everyone is staying warm and working on their show strings.

REGION 8- Marilou Mol
Hi, all!
The Region 8 show season has kicked off despite the miserable weather! January 23 was the first in the Great Lakes Congress No Frills series of shows, and was well-attended. Competition was keen, and a good time seemed to be had by all! Thanks, as always, to the judges and organizers!
As I write this, the latest in a string of eight-inch snowfalls is here, with 30mph winds and currently 8 degrees. Ten below wind chill. I am SO TIRED of winter this year! (Sympathy to our friends in the northeast, who are digging out from FEET--not inches-- of snow!) We're hoping for an early spring...

REGION 9- Pat Coulter
Well, since it *was* January, we only had one show this month, "Mini MAR". Two shows in one, the Mini Halter and Mini Performance shows were held on the 16th in Centerville, MD as a benefit for Mid-Atlantic Regionals. I didn't hear much chatter about the show, but I can't imagine it was anything less than fabulous!
February will bring us 2 shows, Berks County Saddle-ites in PA and Sea to Bay in MD.

REGION 10- Valerie Parker
January saw one show in Region 10, Windrush Winter Warm-Up held at Kate Cabot's house in Massachusetts. The show was well-attended with good competition. Region 10 is in the process of planning the 2010 show season and trying to stay warm!
******

REGION 11- Sandra Gibson
Region 11 is quiet (as usual!). But we had our third annual Winter Blahs live, which went off quite nicely. Due to weather which only a few of us collectors wanted to brave (cold temps, wind, snow & ice fog) not too many of us showed up, but those who did brought some mighty tough horses! It was good fun all around and always is a nice break up in our winter. I believe the next show is Lethbridge Live way off in July... but we shall see!
All in all January a was a good month!
