NAMHSA - February 16-28, 2011 News

NAMHSA News for the period of February 16-28, 2011 based on the minutes compiled by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary.

FEBRUARY 16
-Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) submitted the February 1-15, 2011 minutes report. These were approved the same day by Jackie Arns-Rossi (President).

-Carmen Robertson (Treasurer) posted an estimate of amount of money that Lauren Wood (2010 Auction and Raffle Coordinator) owes NAMHSA. Carmen calculated that Lauren did not remit $545 in cash. Of that amount, $266.09 would be due back to Lauren to cover expenses.

-Tracy Eilers (R1 Representative), Carra McClelland (R4 Representative), and Jackie Arns-Rossi commented on the proper procedure for ensuring that Lauren Wood remitted all money due to NAMHSA.

-Sandra Gibson (R11 Representative) reported on a possible NAMHSA rule violation at a NAMHSA member show.

FEBRUARY 18
-Gail Schuenemann (Show Member Secretary) posted regarding a potential NAMHSA rule violation at a prospective member show (not yet approved). She asked for advice on how to handle the situation. It was agreed that the show application be denied. It was also agreed that if the rule violation potential was corrected, the show could be approved.

FEBRUARY 19
-Pauline Entin (Public Relations) posted regarding the apparent discrepancy in the 2008 NAN Auction Report. She was the Auction Chair that year, and explained that the report was really a preliminary report, and not complete due to two auction lots that were completed and sold later in the year. She recommended that the 2008 Fiscal report be used, as that includes the final accounting of the NAN Auction figures.

-Gail Schuenemann reported that she sent a letter (drafted by Pauline) to the showholder of the show that was denied NAMHSA membership. The showholder said that a new application will be sent.

FEBRUARY 20
-Lynn Weber (Web Content Manager) posted a follow up question regarding the accounting from the 2008 NAN Auction. She wanted to know how to reconcile the Auction report with the Auction accounting within the Fiscal Report.

-Pauline Entin replied to Lynn's inquiry. The difference was due to re-categorization of expenses. For example, paypal fees associated with Auction payments were initially counted as Auction expenses, but for the Fiscal Report, were included in the category containing ALL paypal fees (including fees associated with NAN entry payments, Membership payments etc.).

-Lynn Weber asked for details on how to get the discount rate when booking rooms at the NAN 2011 host hotel in order to post these to the website.

FEBRUARY 21
-The poll to select the NAN 2011 Sponsorship Chair closed. Stacy Becker was selected by majority vote of the Board. 10 Representatives/VP voted, 2 did not vote. There were no abstentions.

-Gail Schuenemann posted the Newly Approved Member Shows listing. A list of all approved NAMHSA member shows may be found on the NAMHSA website (www.namhsa.org).

FEBRUARY 23
-Lynn Weber posted that she rearranged the links menu on the website to make navigation easier.

FEBRUARY 24
-Gail Schuenemann reported that she mailed the NAN Raffle stickers to the two individuals who had never received their stickers, along with a note of apology.

-Silke Brockmoeller (Vice President) posted that she emailed Stacy Becker to let her know she has been appointed to NAN 2011 Sponsorship Chair. She also emailed the other candidates thanking them for volunteering and encouraged them to apply for other positions.

-Prompted by a recent inquiry from a showholder, discussion ensued regarding how to define "divisions" at NAMHSA sanctioned shows in order to allow greater flexibility with hiring judges. Pauline posted the definition of "divisions" that was part of a statement originally posted publicly by the NAMHSA Board on February 2, 2007.
