NAMHSA - May 16-31, 2012 News

NAMHSA News for the period of May 16-31, 2012 based on the minutes compiled by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary.

*MAY 16*
--Stacy Faraci (R7) brought a concern from a member showholder to the Board's attention. The concern was that Breyer (who sponsors the show) is requiring entrants to purchase a three day ticket in order to be eligible to enter. The showholder asked if this violates NAMHSA's by-law which states shows may not restrict entry and if this would disqualify her show. After discussion, it was determined that it does not violate the by-law, it is simply another "fee" that an entrant has to pay in order to enter the show.

*MAY 18*
--Amy Peck (Show Secretary) uploaded a file with the 2012-2013 member shows to the files section.

--Carmen Robertson (Treasurer) uploaded the April 2012 Treasurer's Report:

Total Income: $147.50

*MAY 21*
--Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) submitted the May 1-15, 2012 minutes report. These were approved by Silke Brockmoeller (President) on May 22, 2012.

--Silke Brockmoeller (President) inquired if the Board needs to vote on appointing an applicant to Head Steward position. Eleanor Harvey (PARL) said that the NAN Chair/s would choose an applicant, similar to how judges are chosen.

--Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) posted the election results:

Lindsey Hall- VP

Tom Dean- R2

Carra McClelland- R4

Jackie Moore- R6

Chris Wallbruch- R8

--Discussion continues regarding the three finalist bids for NAN 2013

*MAY 30*
--Carra McClelland (R4, NAN Co-Chair) announced to the regional lists that results from Great Outdoors Live held April 16-17, 2011 were never submitted to NAMHSA, rendering NAN cards earned at that show invalid. Pauline Entin (R3) questioned why this was not brought before the Board first. In the essence of time (NAN registry underway), and because it was a clear violation of NAMHSA rules, Silke Brockmoeller (President) and Teresa Buzzell (Vice President) permitted the announcement to be made.

--Beth Lamm (Merit Award Coordinator) said that she would review Merit Awards issued to determine if any cards from Great Outdoors Live were used.

--Discussion continues regarding the three finalist bids for NAN 2013.

*MAY 31*
--Lynn Weber (Web Administrator) posted wording for an announcement that she would add to the Merit Awards page regarding the ineligibility of NAN cards earned at Great Outdoors Live.

--Beth Lamm (Merit Award Coordinator) announced that she has contacted Merit Award recipients who may be affected by the problem with cards earned at Great Outdoors Live. She will update the Board as the investigation progresses.

--Silke Brockmoeller (President) reminded the Board that discussions regarding NAN 2013 are confidential and are not to be released to the general public.
