NAMHSA - June 16-30, 2011 News

NAMHSA News for the period of June 16-30, 2011 based on the minutes recorded by Bobbi Devine, NAMHSA Recording Secretary.

JUNE 17
--Lynn Weber (Website Manager) posted the NAN 2011 results link.

JUNE 20
--Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) submitted the June 1-15, 2011 minutes report.
These were approved the same day by Silke Brockmoeller (President).

--Pauline Entin (Public Relations/Region 3 Representative) requested that Marilou Mol submit the full list of MSOTY nominees and winners to both her and Lynn Weber.

JUNE 21
--Teresa Buzzell (Vice President) posted the results from the NAN 2011 Raffle. (NAN 2011 Raffle results were posted publicly in full previously.)

--Jackie Arns-Rossi (outgoing President) submitted language to be added to the policies document on the website regarding the recycling of NAN rosettes.

JUNE 22
--Jackie Arns-Rossi posted a farewell message to the Board with reminders of what needs to be worked on immediately. The Board thanked Jackie for volunteering to serve as interim President.

--Marilou Mol (Region 8 Representative/MSOTY Chair) posted the MSOTY results:

JUNE 23
--NAN 2013 discussion continued.

--Teresa Buzzell posted the NAN 2011 Raffle winners.

--Stacy Faraci (Region 7 Representative) posted a review of how the sponsorship program worked this year for NAN 2011. She also offered suggestions on how to improve the program for next year.

--Eleanor Harvey (Parliamentarian) uploaded draft solicitations for the NAN 2012 Chair and Registrar positions. She suggested that the Board decide if there will be a NAN Auction in 2012, and if so, to review and rewrite the requirements of the position.

--Pauline Entin informed the Board that Heritage Hall has NAMHSA penciled in for July 17-19, 2012, as well as the following week (in case Breyer shifts the BreyerFest schedule).

--Pauline Entin posted that she was contacted by a prospective applicant for the Merit Award Coordinator position, and inquired of Gail and Jill how long they will be running the program in the interim. Teresa Buzzell and Silke Brockmoeller agreed that Gail and Jill should continue with the MA program at least through Breyerfest. Then a decision would be made.

JUNE 24
--Jackie Moore (Region 6 Representative) inquired if any action has been taken regarding theletter from Lauren Wood's attorney. Discussion was resumed to finalize the response.

JUNE 25
--Pauline Entin posted the draft solicitation for the Public Relations coordinator position for review.

JUNE 27
--Kate Cabot (Region 10 Representative) motioned that the Board vote on the question of whether or not to solicit bids for NAN 2013. Carra McClelland seconded the motion.

--Teresa Buzzell posted that she and Silke Brockmoeller would draft the response letter to send to Lauren Wood's attorney (via NAMHSA's attorney).

--Teresa Buzzell posted a reminder that if any Board members plan to be away, to notify the Board so that everyone is aware of the anticipated absence.

JUNE 28
--Silke Brockmoeller posted a welcome to the incoming Board members. She also posted the latest agenda:

I. UNDERWAY:
1. NAN 2010 Auction/Sweepstakes: Letter received from Lauren Wood's attorney, we need to present a response.
2. PRES/VP: Need to develop specific language for bylaws
3. NAN 2013: Show to be held in 2013, need to decide on bidding it out vs running it in KY

II. IN THE PIPELINE
1. PUNISHMENT FOR RULE INFRACTIONS - need to develop specific guidelines
2. CONTRACTS - needed for stipend positions?
3. BONDING - consider for treasurer and NAN related positions?
4. THE 60 DAY RULE - all extensions/higher fees for late shows?
5. PERFORMANCE DIVISION RULE RECONSIDERATION - Discuss rewriting the rule defining performance divisions for NAN qualifiers--to permit a judge for one performance sub-division to enter in a separate sub-division (e.g., English and Western).

--Teresa Buzzell posted that she would work on the response to Lauren Wood's attorney's letter, and would have something to present in the next day or so.

JUNE 29
--Carra McClelland (Region 4 Representative) uploaded a NAN Profit/Loss Summary 2004-2010 chart to the files section for review.

JUNE 30
--Carmen Robertson (Treasurer) uploaded the May 2011 Treasurer's Report:
