NAMHSA - August 1-15, 2013 News

NAMHSA News for the period of August 1-15, 2013, based on the minutes compiled by Jackie Arns-Rossi, Recording Secretary.

AUGUST 3 --------------------------------------------------

Chris Wallbruch forwarded a suggestion from a member in her region regarding Top Ten tables at NAN suggesting that non-Champions/Reserve Champions be allowed to electronically submit photos of their horses so that fellow exhibitors can see what the rest of the competition looked like and the pace of the show wouldn't be slowed down.

AUGUST 6 --------------------------------------------------

Lynn Weber started a Flickr account for the NAN Top Ten winners at http://www.flickr.com/groups/nan2014

Lyn Norbury had been approached by a member wanting clarification on Stone Horses’ resins and whether they are to show in CM or AR divisions. Carra McClelland responded that they were to go into AR divisions since they were the very definition of AR; being sold unpainted in limited quantities for customization.

AUGUST 8 --------------------------------------------------

Amy Peck advised that she would be sending out notices to two shows that had submitted applications within 60 days of the show date advising them that they were not eligible for NAN Qualification because they did not meet timely requirements.

AUGUST 10 --------------------------------------------------

Carra McClelland was advised of a potential issue with a Region 9 show in which someone other than the specified show holder was soliciting both entries and judges. Carra immediately took action, drafting an email to the solicitor, reminding them of Article III, Section 2.f as found in the NAMHSA Bylaws.

AUGUST 11 --------------------------------------------------

Carra McClelland announced that the Tagging System Committee would be bringing some concerns to the BOD, soon.

AUGUST 13 --------------------------------------------------

Carra McClelland posted a draft of the NAN 2015 Chair solicitation and requested editing.

Lyn Norbury forwarded an email to the BOD from a member who had been waiting on Merit Awards, of which Beth immediately replied that a number of Merit Awards had been sent out this past Saturday. Beth also reminded the BOD that her term as Merit Award Coordinator would expire on October 1st and that she was not interested in re-applying.

AUGUST 14 --------------------------------------------------

After further information and final editing, Carra McClelland sent the email regarding the Region 9 show to the solicitor. A response was never tendered.

Tom Dean posted a report in which minor concerns from the Down Under Model Horse Society (DUMHS), who was seeking reciprocity with NAMHSA, had been tended to.

Hello! There were no shows in our region in July. We did have a show just this past weekend, Sweet Onion Live in Walla Walla, WA. This was a Breyer sponsored show with the Zuni program & there was also a glossy black classic up for auction. It was a great show & its bigger hall. Lost of new faces & youth showers too.

Delta Stampede! Will be held by Cindy Ruth on August 25, 2013, in Stockton, CA. http://deltastampede.weebly.com/

This is a BIG show with all the divisions that one could want! Cindy does agreat job organizing such a huge event into a one day show. The show is a benefit for a deserving local animal shelter. Sommer has approved us to receive ZUNI from Breyer from their new benefit program.

In November we expect to see Gold Country Model Horse Show hosted by Robin Kent and Marie Sobieski. This will be the 11th year for Gold Country! Congratulations, Robin & Marie! The show's location will likely be Davis, CA. Stand by for more information to be posted soon.

The Holiday season will be kicked off on December 7th, 2013, when Jane Morehouse will host her WACCO (Workmanship & Collectability Classes Only) in San Martin, CA. This show includes the area's Christmas Party and the Naughty Santa Ornament Gift Exchange, which is always a lot of fun! There are also fun classes (NonNAN) that are all ChristmasThemed. Look for more information on Jane's show soon.

REGION 3 -------------------------
Well, folks, it's August already. Lots of schools start this week crazy! With Breyerfest dominating July, we had only one show in the Region over the last month, and that was Red Devil Live OF Plastic Breyer on August 3. This show was the biggest it's been with about 25 entrants, including a couple from out of state. The Breyer Zuni (part of the Breyer benefit program) probably helped attract the big crowd the program works! Zuni was won by Leila Mohseni (now to be known as Leila "Lucky" Mohseni?). With lots of entrants, the show ran later than expected all the way to 9 pm.

Everyone had a fun time.

There are three shows coming up on August 17! One each in Colorado, Utah, and Arizona:
August 17 Red Devil Live OF China/Resin, CG China, and OF Stone Golden, CO
August 17 CassAway Live Mini Meltdown Phoenix, AZ
August 17 Pioneer Classic Provo, UT

We have one member show in Sept, and one nonmember show.
Sept 7 One Woman Show Series CM Phoenix AZ
Sept 28 Dollhouse Breyer Event and Model Horse Show (NOT a NAMHSA member show) Phoenix, AZ
We're expecting a couple of shows in October as well...check the NAMHSA website

REGION 4 -------------------------
No Report

REGION 5 -------------------------
With all the excitement and frenzy of Breyerfest in July, Region 5 is slow on the show front, so there were no shows to report. Coming in August, we will have Hooftoberfest on the 24th, an all halter show hosted by Heather Gearhart.

September promises even more show excitement with MidArk and Hog Wild, both held in Arkansas. More info will be provided in the next report.

REGION 6 -------------------------
Many Region 6 members then made the trip to Kentucky for Breyerfest/ Breakables/ Equilocity. I hope everyone had a fabulous time and a safe trip home with all their new goodies. Next up on the Region 6 calendar will be the Region 6 Saturday Social all AR show on August 10 (in Gainesville, GA) and Florida Cracker Live on August 17 (in Parrish, FL).

In the upcoming months will be:
Hollow Horse Live, Sept 14, in Cumming, GA
The 26th annual Southern Model Horse Convention, Oct 5, in Covington, GA
And there are rumors of three shows in November Peach State Live in Gainesville, GA (date not set)
Palmetto State Live in Jenkinsville, SC on Nov 16
Rockin' Redneck Roundup Live in Kissimmee, FL on Nov 30.
See you at the shows!

REGION 7 -------------------------
This month we had the Breyerfest, the Breyerfest shows, & the Stone show at the Kentucky horse park. We hope everyone has recovered from this festive weekend which had lots of show activity and some fantastic horse exhibitions. And as usual, it was hot !

First was the Breakables live show that looked well attended. On Friday, we had the Breyer Open Show.

Michelle ran another wellorganized show with lots of eye candy. The collector classes were as fun as always and the owners had some super creative ideas in their presentations. The performance classes were very competitive and the halter classes all had topnotch entries. The Breyer Youth show was a big hit and the kids had a great time. The Stone Equilocity show was well run and there were some fantastic horses on the tables. On top of that Breyerfest looked like they had "lots" of people there at the horse park and there were the usual activities at the Clarion. It was a very busy weekend !

Our next show will be September 28th in Cambridge, Ohio. We hope to see everyone there at the show.

REGION 8 -------------------------
There were no scheduled shows in Region 8 in July; however, many region 8 members made the trek to Lexington in July and enjoyed Breakables, Breyerfest, and the Stone show! From all reports our region members did themselves proud.

We have several shows coming up in the next three months...
