NAMHSA - August 16-31, 2009 News
NAMHSA News for the period of August 16th-31st, 2009 based on the minutes recorded by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary. August 16 -Bobbi Devine posted the minutes from August 1st-15th. These were approved by Lindsey Hall. August 18 -Lindsey Hall reported that she has the Lexington Convention Center contract for NAN 2010 in hand. August 18 -Lindsey uploaded a NAN 5-year cost comparison Excel file for review and discussion. August 19th -Lynn Weber found a free database for organizing the member show information. This could be linked to the NAMHSA website for use by the hobby public to find member shows. She created a sample for review. August 22 -Lindsey Hall reported she received two more quotes for casting, prepping, and painting the NAN trophies ("cookies"). August 23 -Lynn Weber asked Gail and Jill if they had received a member show application that a hobbiest submitted in July. Jill responded that she had not received the application, and that there was some possibility it had been mailed to Jenn Tate (former SMS) by mistake. August 23 -Lindsey Hall requested Pauline Entin to send out a general announcement regarding the appointment of Carmen Robertson to the Treasurer position. August 25 -Lindsey Hall asked Susan Hurst and Liesl Dalpe if the solicitation for Merit Award Coordinator was ready to be sent out. Liesl responded that it would be ready this week. August 25 -Lindsey Hall said she was ready to sign the contract with Heritage Hall for NAN 2010. The deposit due on signing is $1,000, the balance of $5,200 is due in January. Lindsey noted that all other expenses like tables, chairs, etc., are billed separately (contract with Lexpo) and will be due by the end of the show in July. The exact dollar amount will depend on what is needed. Prices are as follows: 8' tables $12 8' skirted tables $35 Chairs $1.75 8' drapes $2.75 per foot 3' drapes $1.90 per foot 30" padded stool $24.50 Chrome stanchions $14.00 each White Chain $.90 per foot Easels $9.50 each 4'x8' poster boards $60.00 each Electrical, telephone, internet services are separate agreements. August 26 -Lindsey Hall called for vote on the choice of resin caster for NAN 2010/2011 trophy production. Bobbi Devine set up the poll. August 26 -Lindsey Hall posted thoughts about the 2011 NAN and independent NAN's going forward. Discussion is currently underway. August 27 -Lynn Weber posted that she had some examples of new pages for the NAMHSA website ready for review. August 27 -Eleanor Harvey posted regarding future NAN's; specifically regarding the issue of finances and a business-like approach. August 29 -Susan Hurst posted the August 2009 Merit Award winners. August 30 -Lindsey Hall uploaded an Excel file containing total NAN entrants by state from 1998-2009. This was intended as reference information. August 30 -Lindsey Hall posted a list breaking down NAN expenses and income, and will be recapping each category in the coming days with a further breakdown. August 31 -Lynn Weber uploaded an Excel file showing the impact of a hypothetical fee increase of $5.00 per entrant and $1.00 per model on revenue for each of the last 6 NAN's.
