NAMHSA - August 16-31, 2011 News

AUGUST 16
--Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) submitted the August 1-15 minutesreport. This was approved by Silke Brockmoeller (President) on 8/17.

--Silke Brockmoeller set Friday, August 19 as the deadline for submitting NAN improvement suggestions.

AUGUST 17
--Teresa Buzzell (Vice President) notified the Board that she had informed all of the PR candidates of the vote results and asked what else she needed to do before sending Teresa Candelaria an invitation to the Board list. Pauline Entin (Public Relations/Region 3 Rep) reminded Teresa Buzzell of the non-disclosure agreement.

--Silke Brockmoeller reminded the Board to review the update on the NAN 2010 Auction/Sweepstakes case that Teresa Buzzell had posted earlier. She also asked that the Board continue to discuss the possibility of a policy of sanctions that could be imposed against NAMHSA rule violators.

AUGUST 19
--Carmen Robertson (Treasurer) posted the July 2011 Treasurer's Report:

July 1 through July 31, 2011

Total Income: $1,128.23
Total Expenses: $7,110.02

Balance in BoA Checking 7/31/11: $78,746.77
Balance in Paypal 7/31/11: $ 148.05
Balance in NAMHSA accounts 7/31/11: $78,894.82

AUGUST 18
--Marilou Mol (Region 8 Representative) posted a question from a region member regarding the eligibility of the Breyer flocked rocking horses to be NAN qualified. Eleanor Harvey (Parliamentarian) commented that they should be put with Flockies in collectibility classes, not fantasy.

AUGUST 20
--Pauline Entin posted the draft Merit Award Coordinator solicitation for review.

--Pauline also inquired if the final draft of the NAN 2013 bid solicitation was ok to post. Silke Brockmoeller approved the post.

--Discussion continued regarding the legal agreement proposed in the NAN 2010 Auction/Sweepstakes case.

AUGUST 22
--Lynn Weber (Web Administrator) posted a link to a sample page on the NAMHSA website for donations and asked for review/comments.

AUGUST 29
--Silke Brockmoeller reminded the Board that things needed to keep moving in order to get them accomplished. She updated the Board regarding the NAN 2010 Auction/sweepstakes case (Teresa Buzzell was still working with the lawyers on it). She asked for more discussion regarding sanctions against those who break NAMHSA rules. Silke also asked if any of the Board members knew someone interested in the NAN 2012 Chair position, as no one has applied yet.

--Teresa Buzzell posted that she had sent an email to the attorney regarding the NAN 2010 Auction/Sweepstakes case but had not yet received a response. She also posted that she had not received any applications for the Merit Award Coordinator position yet.

AUGUST 30
--Silke Brockmoeller posted a list of the top three issues that the Board members felt needed to be changed to improve future NANs. These are:

**increase the stipends for NAN Chair and Registrar
**pay or otherwise compensate NAN volunteers better
**raise entry fees
**allow NAN judges to show by proxy on the day that they judge
**provide the most qualified slate of judges possible

Discussion was initiated regarding this list.

--Teresa Buzzell also suggested the creation of a "Head Steward" position at NAN that would be a paid position. This person would be in charge of all the ring stewards, and would be the liaison to the show management.

AUGUST 31
--Gail Schuenemann (Show Member Secretary) posted the latest Newly Approved Show listing. A list of all NAMHSA member shows can be found on the NAMHSA website, www.namhsa.org.
