NAMHSA - September 16-30, 2013 News
NAMHSA News for the period of September 16-30, 2013 based on the minutes compiled by Jackie Arns-Rossi, Recording Secretary. SEPTEMBER 16 -------------------------------------------------- Carra McClelland posted the latest version of the NAN 2014 Registrar solicitation. Chris Wallbruch had received a request from a member in her region asking that NAMHSA expand the Merit Awards program for horses with 20, 30 or more NAN Cards. Lynn Weber refreshed the BOD that such a proposal was on the table but had not been finalized, yet. Carra McClelland added this to the November agenda. SEPTEMBER 17 -------------------------------------------------- Amy Peck advised the BOD that the results for Models and Milkshakes were almost two weeks past due and asked for an alternate email address for the show holder, which Chris Wallbruch supplied. SEPTEMBER 18 -------------------------------------------------- Carra McClelland posted the latest version of the new Merit Award levels. SEPTEMBER 20 -------------------------------------------------- Natalie Kilpatrick asked if there had been any applicants for the Merit Award Coordinator position. Tom Dean responded that there had not been, so Natalie pushed out another solicitation. SEPTEMBER 22 -------------------------------------------------- Natalie Kilpatrick requested adding to the agenda changing the name of the NAMHSA/NAN division from HALTER to BREED, citing that there had been recent discussions where judges were deeming some horses “not halter class appropriate” because of cosmetic flaws of purpose (i.e., chipped hooves on Calamity Jane). Carra McClelland initially declined to add the discussion to the agenda, but after some thought decided it was a legit topic. SEPTEMBER 24 -------------------------------------------------- Carra McClelland acknowledged a discussion on the Region 2 group surrounding the potential of the NAMHSA tagging system and reminded the BOD that the committee did not have a lot of answers yet and asked people to try and keep an open mind about the program. SEPTEMBER 25 -------------------------------------------------- Carra McClelland posted the latest version of the new Merit Award levels. SEPTEMBER 26 -------------------------------------------------- Stacy Quick reported that a member was interested in seeing a list of NAMHSA members on the website. Carra McClelland offered to put this on the October agenda. The winners of the Individual Membership Rewards program were made live. SEPTEMBER 27 -------------------------------------------------- Tom Dean advised that there were two applicants for the Merit Award Coordinator position. SEPTEMBER 30 -------------------------------------------------- Jackie Moore motioned to accept the new Merit Awards levels and was seconded by Lyn Norbury.
