OCTOBER 1 --------------------------------------------------

Tom Dean created a poll to accept the new levels of Merit Awards.

OCTOBER 3 --------------------------------------------------

Natalie Kilpatrick requested that the NAN Staff with stipend/compensation amounts be posted to the NAMHSA website, which Lynn Weber did.

Carra McClelland announced that Sheila Bishop had won the 2014/15 NAN Trophy Contest, with Sommer Prosser being the runner up. Photos of the winner were uploaded to Yahoo! for Lynn Weber to retrieve for the web site.

Carra McClelland asked the board to consider soliciting bids for the caster of NAN Trophies and Medallions.

OCTOBER 4 --------------------------------------------------

Carra McClelland reported that there had been no applicants for the 2014 NAN Chair, so Natalie Kilpatrick sent out another solicitation.

Discussion regarding soliciting bids for the NAN cookies continued.

OCTOBER 5 --------------------------------------------------

While discussing new casters for NAN cookies Carra McClelland and Tom Dean assured the BOD that they would restrict bids to hobby related businesses only.

OCTOBER 6 --------------------------------------------------

The winners of the 2014/15 NAN Trophy Contest were made live.

The poll to accept the new levels of Merit Awards had closed with 11 unanimous votes to approve.

OCTOBER 7 --------------------------------------------------

Carra McClelland announced that there was an applicant for the 2014 NAN Chair, but that she was leaving the position open for the duration of the solicitation.

Carra McClelland announced that there was also an applicant for year round fundraising and posted her resume and application to the BOD for inspection.

Discussion regarding proper judge etiquette while handling horses entered in the wrong class began.

OCTOBER 9 --------------------------------------------------

REGIONAL REPORTS --------------------------------------------------

REGION 1 -------------------------
September was a great month in region 1. There were 2 shows held this month. One was the ever popular Rose City Live in Portland, OR held Saturday the 7th. It sells out every year & is a very competitive show.

The other show, held Saturday Sept 14th was the Butch Cassiday Shootout held by Caitee Cox. This was the first NAN qualifying show held in Wyoming in a long time (ever maybe?). It was a huge success & is looking like it will be held again next year. There was quite the buzz at Rose City about this new show. Always a great sign :)

October will bring 3 shows to the region & sort of wrap up the showing season for the year. They are Atomic City Live, in its third year in Pasco, WA on the 5th. Both Spooky Live in St Helens, OR & NW Congress held in Kent, WA are the last weekend of October.

REGION 2 -------------------------
On September 28, 2013, the Western States Fall Benefit was held in San Martin, CA. It was a beautiful day with lots of good friends enjoying each other and their models.

The Saddle Up! Performance Show and Clinic was held on October 5, 2013, in Herald, CA. Although the show was small it was a day of learning all about performance showing with great food and lots of fun.

Upcoming Shows:

October 12, 2013: Sleepy Hollow Live will be held in LaVerne, CA. Showholder is Suzanne Francis. This will be an All Custom show with divisions for: Artist Resins, AR Minis, Simple Customs, Simple Custom Minis and Custom Glazed China. This show is sold out!

The Holiday season will be kicked off on December 7th, 2013, when Jane Morehouse will host her WACCO (Workmanship & Collectability Classes Only) in San Martin, CA. This show includes the area's Christmas Party and the Naughty Santa Ornament Gift Exchange, which is always a lot of fun! There are also fun classes (NonNAN) that are all ChristmasThemed. Look for more information on Jane's show soon.

REGION 3 -------------------------
Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying fall crisp air, frost on the pumpkin, candy corn in the stores.

In Region 3, it's nippy in the high elevations and finally cooling off (to the 80's!) in places like Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Cruses.

We have not had any shows in the last month in the region, although Teresa Candelaria's One Woman Show Series Stone show is going on as I type! I'm sure they are having fun at Teresa's house in Northern Phoenix. Tucson Mountain Live is coming up in two weeks, Sunday October 27. In addition to the open show, Pat is offering a youth division. The following weekend (11/2), Teresa is holding the china edition of her show series. And the weekend after that (11/9), the action moves to Colorado, where Heather Roell is hosting the Redline Revival Mini Edition.

Unfortunately, I am not able to attend any of these upcoming shows (much to my disappointment). So, region members, please do not hesitate to email me with your thoughts and any questions about NAMHSA.

Sept 14 was another successful Hollow Horse Live in Cumming, GA. We had a full house and competition was spectacular! Show hostess Valerie Rice always puts on a terrific show.

Right now, Region 6 is getting ready for the 26th annual Southern Model Horse Convention at Laura Behning's Brookridge Morgans on Oct. 5. Model horses and real Morgan horses what could be a better way to spend a day?

Also coming up in Oct (on Oct. 19) is a fun show in Raleigh, NC to benefit the US Equine Rescue League. Many thanks to Beth Patterson for continuing to help with this show and encourage the youngsters.

Next up on the Region 6 2013 calendar are:

Palmetto State Live in Jenkinsville, SC on Nov 16 Rockin' Redneck Roundup Live in Kissimmee, FL on Nov 30

And 2014 is shaping up to be a busy show year with shows already scheduled for Jan, Feb, March, and April! Looking forward to it!

REGION 7 -------------------------
On September 28th, Mandy and Tonjia hosted an awesome show in Cambridge, OH. The room was packed full of lots of eye candy and energized showers. There were fabulous prizes and we even had a visit from Fargo, a black draft horse, who is a Frog Pond rescue horse. He was really cute and had lots of character. We all took a lot of pictures!

No shows for the month of October but we have some great shows scheduled for November. On November 2nd, there is Tri State Live in Maumee, Ohio, and then later in the month, we have Miami Valley Live, the Big Show II on November 23rd, followed by Miami Valley Live 2.5 on November 24th. Both of these shows will be in Greenville, Ohio.

REGION 8 -------------------------
The leaves are turning, fall is in the air, and the fall show season is starting up!

September 14th was the GLC Collectibility and Worksmanship show, another edition of the great No Frills series. It's always fun to go to the speciality shows and see some unusual beauties make their way to the show ring! The attendance was very good and there were lots of pretty horses to enjoy.

September 21st was the next edition of the Models and Milkshakes show in Michigan. It's awesome to see a show series starting up in another Region 8 state, and by all accounts, the show was excellent and well attended.
