NAMHSA - December 16-31, 2011 News

NAMHSA News for the period of December 16-31, 2011 based on the minutes compiled by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary.

*DECEMBER 16*
--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) requested Lyn Norbury (R5) to give a detailed explanation of the incident at NAN 2011. Lyn responded that because of a promise to keep the details confidential, she will not disclose any more information.

*DECEMBER 19*
--Pauline Entin (R3) inquired who else on the Board has moderator status on the NAMHSA-Discussion list.

--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) posted to the Board that she has been reading the posts on NAMHSA-Discussion, and is contemplating the next step to take. She asked for everyone's patience on this matter. She also said that one of the parties that were involved in the NAN 2011 incident has stepped forward (on the NAMHSA-Discussion list) but that she has yet to receive any emails from this person. Silke said that she sent an email to the person asking her to resend her message.

The following poll closed:
POLL QUESTION: Please choose the next Show Secretary.

--Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) noted that she found an additional application for Show Secretary that she missed and did not originally post to the group for discussion. She motioned that the previous poll be voided and a new poll begun including the newest candidate after discussion. Kate Cabot (R10) seconded the motion.

*DECEMBER 20*
--Bobbi Devine submitted the December 1-15 minutes report.

--Pauline Entin (R3) reported that she discovered that Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) and Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) are also moderators on NAMHSA-Discussion.

--Pauline Entin (R3) inquired if Marilyn Fowler contacted Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) regarding the possible rule infraction at NAN 2011. Silke confirmed that Marilyn did send her an email and that she was still working on it.

--Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) posted the newest settlement agreement in the NAMHSA vs Lauren Wood case and requested that all Board members read it over and if in agreement, she would let the attorney know on 12/22 that it was okay to proceed.

*DECEMBER 20*
--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) posted a draft message to send to the NAMHSA-Discussion list for the purpose of letting the hobby public know that the Board is working on the current problem regarding the possible rule infraction that allegedly occurred at NAN 2011 and invited comment and review.

*DECEMBER 22*
--Bobbi Devine (RECORDING SECRETARY) started the new poll for Show Membership Secretary.

--Bobbi Devine (RECORDING SECRETARY) posted the bylaw vote results:

*DECEMBER 29*
--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) posted a compilation of information derived from emails and from the NAMHSA-Discussion list about the NAN 2011 judging issue. She asked the Board to review the information before making a final post to the NAMHSA-Discussion list regarding the issue.

--Gail Schuenemann (Show Secretary) inquired if the candidates for Show Secretary had been notified so that she and Jill can begin the transition. Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) posted that she would be in contact with all the candidates, and would let the Board know when she had finished.

*DECEMBER 30*
--Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) announced that all the candidates for Show Secretary had been contacted, and that Gail may begin the transition over to Amy Peck.

--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) posted a thank you to Gail and Jill for their service as Show Membership Secretaries.

--Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) forwarded an email from a young hobbyist in Region 11 who wants to write a book about model horse showing. She wants to mention NAMHSA in the book, and is requesting permission to do so. It was agreed that the author may reference NAMHSA in her book, but that the content would need to be reviewed by the Board before publishing.

--Silke Brockmoeller (PRESIDENT) forwarded an email that she had sent to Lyn Norbury (R5) asking for her resignation. Lyn had refused to resign. Silke motioned that the Board vote to remove Lyn Norbury from her position as Region 5 representative. Teresa Buzzell (VICE PRESIDENT) seconded the motion. Discussion ensued.
