Hand Embroidered Arabian Native Costume
Melissa Nei has generously donated her next costume, already in progress and described below. The winner will receive a custom certificate in person, redeemable for this costume only.

The is a one of a kind Arabian native-style costume by Melissa Nei of Adiva Arabians in traditional scale. The drape/saddle piece is hand embroidered over white material with plum, cranberry, forget-me-knot purple, sky blue and maritime blue, and sparkling with silver and gold. The saddle seat is hand molded and covered with a cranberry material that has a crushed velvet feel to it, the top edges of the seat are lined in more hand embroidered swirls to compliment the drape and give it that extra touch of authenticity. The stirrups are english in style and placed beneath the saddle as is traditional for the true native style costumes, and are adjustable. The girth is made of elastic and fastens through the shoopand which is attached to the bottom of the collar, and then comes up to finally attach on the otherside of the drape, this piece is also adjustable. The drape is lined in a double tier of silky tassles in alternating tassles to match the drape, and also a little gold fringe for some extra added flair! Finally a pair of drop ropes hang from the back of either side of the saddle with a set of tassles adorning the ends.

The bridle and collar pieces feature a unique egyptian style braiding that has a kind of zebra print effect with blue and white. The collar also features the unique egyptian style webbing along the bottom edge, which is accented with tons of beads and tassles and is finally embellished with hand sculpted cowrie shell miniature designs. This set is loaded with tons of tiny details to make it one of my best sets yet. The girth strap/shoopand piece is detachable so that the collar may be worn simply as a presentation set with the halter/bridle piece. The collar has long ropes on either side that attach to loops on either side of the saddle, and can be adjusted to accurately fit the Arabian horse wearing the set. The bridle piece is adjustable via a buckle at the top of the headstall. Each side is lined with hand sculpted cowrie shell designs to match the collar piece, and matching tassles. The sharktooth nosechain is uniquely a mix of silver and gold, something I've never seen done before with an Arabian costume, but I thought it would be something different and new! The bit/reins are detachable to easily transform the bridle into a halter piece that can be worn alone or with the collar as a presentation set. A detachable lead line is also included for this purpose.

My goal for this piece was to create something that is unique, unforgettable, dripping with detail, adjustable, and can fit compliment a variety of sizes and colors of beautiful Arabian model horses!
