North American Nationals (NAN) NAN 2014 Auction Lot 9: AA Chaney earthenware china in the rearing Shire stallion mold, done to a b/w leopard Sugarbush drafter. Glazed with high gloss Mayco leaded clear glaze then china painted in multiple layers, with multiple firings, to a black and white leopard appaloosa pattern. Has tricolored eyes with sclera, stripped hooves, mottling around eyes, muzzle, and sheath, haloed spots and haired brushwork, etc. His stand has been finished in china paint as a grassy field. Decal has been fired onto the bottom of the stand with the artist's name and studio. Cheryl Farrens of FireHorse Designs has had many pieces place in the top ten at NAN in CM, AR, and CG divisions. Her work has garnered division championships, national ceramic awards, and championships in juried art shows. This piece is new and unshown.
